miR-141-3p and miR-375 in Metastatic Rectal Cancer
Acredit members Sebastian Meltzer and Tonje Bjørnetrø have recently published a new paper describing the potential for use of miR-141-3p and miR-375 as circulating biomarkers of disease in rectal cancer patients.
Using samples from the OxyTarget and LARC-RRP cohort, Sebastian and Tonje were able to identify that there are higher levels of these two exosomal biomarkers in patients who present with synchronous liver metastasis than in patients who do not. They also noted that high levels of exosomal miR-141-3p was associated with post-operative metastatic liver progression in their investigative cohort.
